Footsteps for Change: Global Art Project

Footsteps for Change is a Global Art Project introducing students to the 2012 Jan Satyagraha March . In the tradition of Mahatma Gandhi one hundred thousand dispossessed people from rural areas all over India will walk in a peaceful protest to demand justice.

Robbed of their land, but not their dignity, these tribal people and small farmers will draw attention to the failings of the legal and political systems.  Among these marchers are children and youth who hope to bring change to their world in a peaceful and positive way.

Ekta Parishad (Unity Forum) is an inspiring social movement supporting this action by all ages. The successful March of 2007 ( Janadesh) showed 25,000 marching peacefully for a month from Gwalior to Delhi carrying banners.  Supporters of this people's movement for social justice in Canada are invited to participate through are - a stencil activity  on khadi cloth in the form of a banner that will wave in solidarity.
